Banff Weekend Getaway

Banff Weekend Getaway

A Weekend in Banff, Alberta

Every now and then, you need to hit pause on everyday life and sneak away with your favorite people. That’s exactly what this past weekend in Banff was all about. Six of us packed our bags (shoutout to my Boundary Supply tote for always being my sidekick), loaded up the car, and headed out for a weekend trip filled with good food, fresh air, and relaxation. If you are ever in Banff, here are a few of the things I recommend checking out.

Friday: Late-Night Tacos & Soaking Under Stone

We kicked things off in the best way possible: happy hour at Añejo. After 9 p.m., they offer half-off tacos and drinks—which was all the excuse we needed. It was the perfect start to the weekend!

After dinner, we checked into the Fox Hotel & Suites, a cozy spot right in Banff with a natural rock hot tub that feels like a cave. We changed into swimsuits and immediately headed down for a soak—it was the ideal way to wind down.

Saturday: Scenic Runs, Matchas & Lake Louise Views

The next morning started with a light jog around Banff Avenue and down the Bow River Trail—nothing too intense, just enough to feel like we’d “earned” our coffee. And speaking of coffee: Wild Flour Bakery delivered. Their matchas, espresso, and fresh pastries were just what we needed.

Later that day, we drove to Lake Louise and hiked the Stewart Canyon Trail—an easy but beautiful trail that winds through the forest and offers views of the lake and river canyon. It was the perfect way to connect with nature without overcommitting on time or energy.

Dinner that night was at Pizzeria Sophia, a casual local spot with wood-fired pizzas that hit the spot after a full day. We headed back to the hotel for a chill game night.

Sunday: Brunch, Browsing & the Ultimate Spa Experience

Sunday morning started with brunch at Bluebird, a beautiful space with wood-fired everything and a cozy atmosphere. From there, we wandered through Banff’s local shops, picked up a few souvenirs, and sat in Central Park to enjoy a sweet treat we’d brought along.

Then came the real treat: a drive out to Kananaskis Nordic Spa for the Twilight Session. If you’ve never done the hot-cold hydrotherapy cycle, do it. Between the steaming saunas, cold plunges, rest pools, exfoliation hut, and mountain views, it was the definition of “reset.” We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning the next trip.

Banff is the perfect spot for a weekend girls’ trip—whether you’re celebrating a birthday, recharging with friends, or just escaping the routine. It’s low-key, stunningly beautiful, and filled with gems that make the whole experience feel elevated but still easygoing.

And for anyone wondering: yes, I brought my Boundary Supply tote. It fit everything I needed for the weekend (including snacks, toiletries, a book, tech accessories etc). Stylish, sturdy, and surprisingly spacious—it’s now officially my go-to for weekend travel.
